Espinosa de Cervera, village in the province of
Burgos, also named as "Espinaz de Can", place where
El Cid camped before leaving the Burgos lands. Near
to the banks of the Esgueva River and in the
hillside of the Cervera Rocks it is located this
marvellous village where tradition, culture and
peacefulness are mixed in order to offer a tourist
rural destination of primary importance.
Without any doubt, its romanesque church from the
century XII is the first thing that attracts
attention when the visitor arrives to the village.
|
It stands out the apse (with figures engraved in the
stone corbils), the tower, the belfry and the
baptismal font.
|
Constructed by the order of San Millán de la Cogolla
in the half of the century XII, it mixes different
styles, although the most predominant is the
romanesque as it can be observed in the corbils that
embellishes the apse.
It also stand out the tower and the belfry by its
height, where long ago a clock marked the time.

|
Following a romanesque style, recently restored, is
waiting this font from immemorable times to offer
its fresh and pure water to the traveller, which
hardly ever has stopped pouring.
|
|
The Washing-place, also restored some years ago, is
an example of tradition and culture where long ago
and still in these days it is used to wash the
clothes.

Amongst the houses that follow the traditional
architecture of the region, with characteristics as
stone building or mountain chimney, it stands out
the House of the Priest, in the village centre.
|
|
|
And of course, the wine cellars, typical buildings
in all the region that, as well as preserving the
wine fresh they are also a splendid place to have
supper during the summer nights, with the family or
with friends.
