To few kilometres from the village, located at heart
of a valley surrounded by mountains and where the
sight loses itself beyond the sabine and pine
groves, it is the Ermita de Talamanquilla, a
splendid place where to enjoy with the nature.
The first data from this hermitage date from the
year 980, when it was given by Fernán González's son
to the chapter of Covarrubias. This curious name for
the place, according to the tradition, is due to an
important lady that lived in the place with her
people, after losing her hand in one of the many
skirmishes against the moorish, these last started
to use the expression "tala manquilla", that means
to log and parch the so difficult to subdue place,
and so it has perdured till our days.
The place is surrounded by a stone wall, and inside
we can find the hermitage, the house of the
hermitess, a font with fresh and clear water, and
some tables and seats. A place where you can pass a
marvellous day enjoying with its quietness.
